Hyperscaled: The Global Challenge of Sustainability in AI

As generative AI systems proliferate, their immense computational demands are intensifying pressure on global energy grids, water resources, and mineral reserves. Without immediate and collaborative efforts to address these material impacts, the environmental footprint of AI risks overshadowing its potential benefits. This talk will argue that environmental sustainability should be at the core of the AI ethics and safety agenda.
