Amandeep Singh Gill is the United Nations undersecretary-general and the secretary-general’s envoy on technology, focusing on AI policy, governance and its ethical applications. As a member of the secretary-general’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI and the scientific advisory board, he plays a key role in shaping global discussions on responsible AI use. His work includes leading the U.N.’s technology initiatives, fostering digital cooperation and addressing the societal impacts of AI. Previously, he co-led the U.N. secretary-general’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation and served as India’s ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament. He holds a Ph.D. from King’s College London and, in 2024, he was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in AI.
