Peng Wei is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the George Washington University, with courtesy appointments in GWU's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as well as its Computer Science Department. By contributing at the intersection of control, optimization, machine learning and artificial intelligence, Wei and his team develop decision support and autonomy tools for aviation, aeronautics and aerial robotics. His current research focuses are (1) safety, efficiency and scalability of aircraft autonomy, multi-agent autonomy and human-autonomy teaming; (2) aviation operations, including air traffic management/control, airline operations, UAS traffic management, advanced air mobility, and aviation electrification; and (3) AI safety and certification for safety-critical systems. Wei is an associate fellow at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Purdue University and his bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University.
